Mowin' It Old School

I was talking to my Mom last week asking her if she still had the old Reel Mower around. She said it was still out in the shed and I could have it if I wanted it. Oh yeah, I wanted it.

What I am even more amazed is that it needs VERY LITTLE work done to it. I was all excited and mowed the front yard with it without doing a thing to it. It probably needs a little lubing up and the blades could be sharpened a little, but it works great!

I'm jealous. I wanted my grandpa's old school mower when we had the farm auction but it had disappeared :(

After trying it out briefly, besides cutting your grass, it will give you the added benefit of a little upper body and glute workout!

I wanted one of those in Vermillion. I'm not so sure that it would work for us now. :D

Great find!! It's amazing what just a sharp blade will do.

I remember cutting grass with one of those old reel mowers.
It sucked.
Still does I bet! In all fairness, I have just under an acre to cut, so it would be a never ending process with a tiny little push mower, unless of course, you volunteer to do it!

I had one of those in Gayville. You appear to have a small, flat yard. Maybe i'm wrong. I remember how fast grass grows in SD. Let me know if you're still enjoying that rusty little thing two months from now. PS: It's harder to use when it's wet. Just a heads up.
